Moon Playing Cards

On July 20, 1969, the Apollo 11 spaceflight landed the first two people on the Moon. As the world watched, Astronaut Neil Armstrong set foot on the lunar surface and acknowledged it as "one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind." Shortly after landing, Astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin spoke with President Richard Nixon through a telephone-radio transmission which Nixon called "the most historic phone call ever made from the White House."

All six lunar touchdowns, beginning with Apollo 11 in 1969 and culminating with Apollo 17 in 1972, occurred during Nixon's presidency making Richard Nixon the only president to witness a moon landing during his time in the White House. This deck features phases of the Moon and photographs of lunar modules from the archives of NASA.

Product selected to accompany the Nixon Library's exhibition Apollo 11: One Giant Leap for Mankind.
